Beat drab days and wear a fab day!

So the weather has been rather dull this week, but I refuse to wear warm winter clothes! It's the end of April and in all the shops is wonderful colourful prints and designs! Today was rather drab, with it raining for the most part, or if it wasn't full on raining it was that horrible wind rain which is a killer to hair! Especially mine with it being so fine! (Haha I rhymed there!) Anyway, I thought I would share my colourful outfit with you guys today, see what you think!

The tshirt was brought from ark clothing and cost £14.99! Slogan tees are everywhere at the min, from fitted styles to boyfriend fit, cropped jumpers and baggy fit ones! I liked this one as it was a bargain and with it being white I can literally team it with most items in my wardrobe! My skirt is from River Island and I got it in the sale for £12! This was another bargain and I will be wearing this all summer! The fabric is rather thin and light so will be perfect for the sunny days to come and teaming it with either some gladiators or a pair of the ugly sandal trend that is also everywhere at the mo!
My cut out boots are from Next and are last season but I love them so much I literally team them with everything at the mo!
Hope you like my outfit! Love reading your comments! Don't forget to press that follow button!

The Future Rocks

The Future definitely does Rock with these new phone cases from Futurocks! I couldn't believe my luck when I was browsing Instagram and came across the  Futurocks page! I had seen many pictures of the Chanel perfume bottle phone case but couldn't find where to actually buy one! So I decided to browse their web page and see how much they actually cost! To my surprise they started from as little as £9.99! The clear crystal one I purchased was £14.99! Whilst browsing I also came across their power packs, which I never actually heard of before, but basically it's a small rectangle in shape, box that you can carry round with you and top your battery up when ever needed! I was amazed by such a product and with sometimes when you are out and about your phone always goes dead at times when you need it most! This is no longer the case as this nifty device will keep you phone forever charged! The prices of the power packs start from £9.99 and as you can see I choose the really girly pink one!
I ordered these products on Monday afternoon around four, with free shipping included, then to hear a knock at the door Wednesday morning at nine with the postman handing me my product! What a quick and great turn around! The products came well package and I actually loved the fact my phone case came in a Chanel box as well! For extra security Futurocks even send the items on signed for delivery! So what are you waiting for? Go order your new case and power pack now to be ahead of the trends!
Let me know your thoughts on these cases/power packs!
Have you ordered from Futurocks?

Manchester Fashion Week 2014

This Easter Sunday I went to my first ever fashion show all the way in Manchester! I have been to The Clothes Show Live in Birmingham, for many years and will continue to do so, but this was my first ever event that I attended, which was more formal! I booked tickets for me and my friend Erin a few weeks back and was so excited in the run up to the actual event that I spent loads on different outfits to get the right look I wanted! More about that in a mo! The actual event itself was held at the Halle St Peters, and is a gorgeous light and airy space, perfect for a catwalk. The church reminded me of the event that the television programme The Hills showcased with Teen Vogue, where they did a fashion show in a church also, so today was my day to feel like the Lauren Conrad of Manchester!
Leading up to the actual event itself there was a little negativity with whether the fashion show would go ahead or not, due to it not the previous year, thank fully due to the sponsors 5fashion.co.uk the event as able to go ahead with great professionalism!
On the day itself my brother drove us the long two and a half hour journey to Manchester and with it being Easter Sunday nothing was open, so we went to Nandos for dinner and before we knew it, it was time to head to the show! A little nervous walking inside, we handed our tickets over and walked in the large open space filled with rows of chairs with goodie bags on each! There were no more than ten stalls around the outer edge which were some of the designers samples of what was to come that night! The seating had no order so we were able to sit anywhere we liked, which we weren't too sure of until after the show. We decided to sit on the third row which was perfect to see all the collections and be able to take pictures, and this way there was no embarrassment of being asked to move, although for next time we will sit front row as these weren't reserved and we now know! After talking and taking some selfies the lights dimmed and the music blarred, the show began!

Picture One is the fashion show starting.
Picture Two is my chosen outfit. My top, skirt and satchel are all from Topshop and are current season! The nude patent shoes are from Next and are from last years collection!
Picture Three is one of many selfies we took before we both agreed on one we both liked! Erins blue dress with white collar is from New Look and her jacket is Miss Selfridge!

The first of the designers to take the catwalk was Get Clobbered by Jane Molloy who featured some extravagant head pieces and accessories to make a show stopping look.

The details on this piece was amazing! It really turns a basic dress into something special.

The next designer was Laundry Boutique which was definitely a favourite of mine with easy to wear pieces at such great prices. They started their show off with slinky playsuits in a lush leopard print design and floating black tops over playful shorts. They then featured a fabulous and very on trend shirt and trouser two piece in floral print, which really showed what a wonderful collection they had! Next was a vibrant coloured playsuit with a peter pan colour and a cream long sleeve lace dress.Their collection kept getting better and better with each piece that came onto the runway, with the detailing on the pieces and the outfits they created, it definitely is a young trendy fashionable clothing brand that is on my list of must have purchases!

Fair T was the next designer, who showcased t-shirts with some great edgy designs that really make a basic tee stand out.  They claim, "We care about the people who make our clothes and the environment they were made in. So we've carefully sourced a supply chain which improves the lives and working conditions of factory workers and farmers." You really need to check this brand out and get behind their collection as we should all be supporting fair trade check them out at www.fair-t.com.

Rufflee came onto the catwalk with a new concept on men dressing similar to women with the creative cropped tops and shorts combo!

As you can see from the pictures above, the designer choose to show how men and women can both wear the vibrant two piece! Will your man be wearing this look this summer?

Muscle In is a line of gym wear and fitness clothing for men who are "determined and self-driven individuals who have a strong commitment to their performance in the gym."  In other words you have to be very athletic to carry off the tight fitting gym wear, but if you do have a man with an athletic look then this line is great and very affordable! Check them out here www.muscle-in.com .

McIndoe was the next designer up and wow this show really flowed with the pieces clearly showing it was a collection that was being shown and not just random pieces placed together! Bright printed shirts and shorts were the main theme which worked well with the men and womens line!

Protected Species is a line of fully waterproof rainwear with great detailing to the macs/parkas that really take them from a boring standard coat to a fabulous one in an instant. The detailing on the back with a bow to the tie at the front really make these coats an essential all year round! Find them here at www.protected-species.com .

Rachel Wears had a wide collection from daytime through to night time with casual fitting shirts and boyfriend jeans to slinky maxi dresses.

Zeenoe Dee
The use of fabric and great feminine lines really made Zeenoe Dee dresses have the gothic glamour look!

Ms N Designs had the models in glamorous silk/satin mini dresses with beading and embroidery around the edges that made the dresses look rich in fabric!

IL2L  stands for I Love To Love, which is what you will find yourself doing when you find this brand online! They have some of the best leather jackets I have seen in like forever, and after going online to see the prices they charge for them I was very happy to see they range from £40-£100+. Here is some of the jackets they used in the fashion show.

AKA Clothing is another brand that is "trendy" in Manchester with great prints on two pieces, t-shirts and trousers, they describe themselves as "the quintessential brand to showcase your individuality and freedom to be", find them here at thisisaka.com .

More Lillem Than Eve

What I enjoyed about the More Lillem Than Eve catwalk was the patterned deep teal colour tops and trousers and then the mix and match with the gold metallics.

Pretty Green is a well established designer brand and when I seen their name flash up on the screen I was a little more excited, that they chose to share their brand here at Fashion Week! The pictures I took for these didn't come out very well, mainly due to the male models walking a bit too quickly, but you can find all the pieces featured on the Pretty Greens website which is prettygreen.com .

If you have stayed with me this far, then the much anticipated grand finale was the rather talented and amazing Adnan Bayyat. If you have never heard of him then you must look up his amazing work as he will be seen on all the catwalks around the world. His work delivers a theatrical performance with the pieces being more like a costume of fabulous with every twist and twirl on the catwalk. His designs are captivating if not a little crazy, but he is definitely one designer to be watching!

Hope you've enjoyed reading my first ever fashion week! Leave your comments below I love reading them!

Topshop Top Picks

If your a follower of Silkandboots on Instagram then you will know I'm a big fan of Topshop, especially their spring / summer collection, and if you have been keeping up to date with my blog posts then you will also know for my birthday I got lots of vouchers to spend in store there.  Teaming vouchers with a shopaholic means one thing "spendaholic!" Money literally burns holes in my pockets. Im true to the saying that I will be an old lady living in a shoe. A quote from Sex And The City, "I like my money exactly where I can see it, in my closet!" Although ask my partner and he will tell you it's not just in the closet, my stuff is everywhere!
So having said that, I wasted no time in spending my vouchers and here's what I got!

This dress was £39 and on the Topshop website is called Folklore Print Shift Dress.
I really liked this dress on and felt it was the perfect length as it just sat above my knee. The dress is sleeveless but the sleeves at the top of the dress are rather wide making it quite flattering. The style of the dress sits fitted at the bust and then hangs loose with two pockets at the front creating a smock like look. I will be teaming this with a simple pair of tan gladiators for the perfect summer look!

This was my second outfit choice! Please do excuse the creases in the dress, the dress has been left in a bag hanging off my bed for few days and was only taken out today, which may be a problem when wearing this dress as it creases rather quickly, due to it being a lightweight denim. The dress is called a Denim Babydoll Dress and is £36, I had to go up a size in this dress as I found the top half to be rather tight fitting compared to other denim dresses that I have purchased recently from Topshop. I decided to team the dress with the white crop tee, £8,  for a fun girly look. I love the loose fitting on the dress as its so comfortable to wear, so if I'm having a "fat" day this dress will hide it!I also like how versatile the dress can be, because if I team a statement necklace with the dress it takes me from daytime through to night time.

The Mini Gingham Leggings are £22. and I'm still in two minds about these! I like the look with the jelly shoes, (which are from New Look £14.99), but can't decide if I will actually wear them. These were one of those purchases where I tried them on, thought they looked ok, put them back and later on came back to the store to buy them as I couldn't get them out of my head. I'm not totally sure what top I would put them with, probably a basic tee, if  I'd of purchased the trouser version I would of put gingham on gingham but as these are leggings I'm not convinced on that look for these. Will have to try a few ideas out and post pictures for feedback!

This is my favourite purchase of the day! A baby blue Textured Gathered Knee Midi priced at £45, it may be a little steep in price but I loved it! I'm 5ft4 and due to having a small waist but big hips the skirt comes high waisted on me, which is the look I wanted! The skirt does make my bum look huge, and I don't mean slightly bigger than normal, I mean HUGE! I would wear this with the white crop tee as it makes me look a bit more in proportion, and thought I would wear some silver high heeled shoes for an evening look! I'm thinking of wearing this look for when me and my friend go to the Manchester Fashion Week Show.

I love Topshop jewellery and fell in love with this simple necklace. If you watch This Morning then you will have noticed that Holly Willoughby wears something very similar that her mum got her everyday on the show, but as you can imagine this is a fraction of the price at only £6.50. I'm forever wearing tea dresses with floral prints so this necklace will just be the added extra that any outfit needs!

Hope you like all my latest purchases!

And the nomination goes to .......... ME!

These Liebster Awards have been floating around on blogs recently and the lovely Eve from thefashionologylab.blogspot.com has nominated me! In short the Liebster Award is kind of like a chain letter which is given to bloggers who have 200 or less followers, for new and current followers to find a bit more out about the person behind the screen, and outfit posts!
Here are the eleven questions that Eve submitted to me!

1. Who are your favourite retailers?
My favourite retailers at he moment are Next and Topshop! I really like Next at the moment as some of their key pieces for summer are such good value that I can't help but spend in there! Topshop has always been a fave retailer of mine for years. What I particulary like about Topshop is the fact that they take something from the catwalk and re-create it for a high street price tag!

2. What is your favourite style of shoe?
Since having my little boy two years ago I live in ballerina pumps! They are comfortable, come in every colour possible and can be worn day to evening, for me a perfect shoe!

3.What was the last item you splurged on?
My biggest spend of late has been in Topshop as I received lots of vouchers for there for my birthday.
However if meaning just on one particular item, I do have a love for designer bags and purses! The smell and feel just kills me with excitement, and my most recent item of those that I got for myself was a cream and pink DVF purse! The price of the purse I wont disclose but lets say it wasn't much different in price to the actual cost of a DVF bag!!!!

4. What's your favourite flavour combination?
My favourite flavour combination is beef and onion crisps, I love all meaty flavoured ones!

5.What would your last meal consist of?
My last meal would easily consist of a Chinese take away, I absolutely love Chinese and would order the whole menu if it was my last meal!

6.What is your favourite film?
I'm always saying "oh I love this" and "oh thats def my fave", for virtually everything so this is hard to pinpoint one particular film, but two films that did come to mind pretty much straight away was Pretty Woman and Coyote Ugly. As you can tell from my choices I love a chick flick, and even more the trashy to stylish outfit choices in both films!

7. Who is currently your favourite blogger and why?
At the moment I have two favourite bloggers that when ever they put a new post up I will read it straight away although very different in content I love their style of writing! One is Antoinette P over at letterstoa.com and the second is Lilly USA at myterriblemarriage.com

8. Who is your favourite fashion designer?
My favourite designer is Marc Jacobs I love his collections, and more recently I was lucky enough to receive a bag for my birthday!

9.What was your last purchase and from where?
My last purchase was today from Asda and I purchased the most recent InStyle Magazine. Clothing wise was from Topshop and I got a denim pinafore and a white crop top.

10.Why did you start a blog?
I have been often asked this question,"why did you start a blog?" and in all honesty I had only came across the blogging world about two years back when I was looking up fashion trends on twitter to see what everyone was talking about. Being a mum can sometimes cut you out the loop in knowing what is happening in the fashion world as different priorities take over. Also learning how to style a new body shape can be hard at times with trying to stay on trend. I feel now that I have finally found what suits me and have become more experimental with clothes and thought I would share it with others.

11. What is you preferred genre of music?
I have always loved r'n'b music with a bit of pop thrown in! My favourite artist who I'm currently obsessed with is Ellie Golding!

Here are my bloggers that I'm going to nominate

Kate and Charlotte     howlovely01.blogspot.com

Karishma     beneaththebrush.com

Erin      justaweefashionblog.co.uk

Amy     girlsanddoll.blogspot.co.uk

Alexandra     alexandraelizabethbeauty.blogspot.co.uk

Catherine      thedaintydressdiaries.blogspot.ie

Casey      caseyssignature.weebly.com

Zoe       beautifinous.blogspot.co.uk

Ally        allysworldblog.wordpress.com

Ally      Wildglossy.blogspot.com

Phoebe   phoebebeloved.blogspot.co.uk

Here are my 11 questions....

1. What motivated you to start your blog?
2. What's your biggest surprise come from blogging?
3. What's in your make up bag that you can't live without?
4. What's your signature look?
5. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?
6. Who would your three choices be, dead or alive, non/famous people to have for a dinner party?
7. What's your favourite tv programme?
8. Apart from blogging what else do you like to do in you spare time?
9. What blogs are you recommending at the moment as good reads?
10.What social networks are you on?
11. What makes your blog different to others?

Good luck ladies!!!!

Not What We Had Planned....

This past weekend was supposed to be so much fun, emphasis on the "supposed!" I had given up my shift at work to have a whole weekend away with my boys, as we had planned to go to Legoland! This excited me muchly! I have wanted to go there for years but we always ended up going Alton Towers or shopping in London, but as H is two and a half, nearly three, I had the perfect excuse for now actually going!
When we woke up on Saturday morning H had such a high temperature that we decided we wouldn't stay down there, instead if he was feeling better then we would go early Sunday morning. Saturday came and went and he was still no better and to make things worse so was my partner!I couldn't believe my luck! Two poorly boys!
In typical Vicki fashion I left them to it in bed and headed off to the shops to pick up my store order from New Look! Well, in trying to justify my actions they were both sleepy and plus I didn't want the lergy too!
Please excuse the missing head, here's my outfit for the day!

Mom jeans New Look £24.99
Skater pumps Topshop £20
Stripe box tee Next £16

I had been searching for a pair of mum jeans for what seemed forever, and these jeans really are a great fit, they are a baggier fit than what I was going for, but I like the high waisted aspect to them, so I could team them with any length top! The skater pumps are every where at the moment, and everyone seems to be loving these ones from Topshop. I decided on the pink shade as pastel colours are a massive summer trend and once again this is another item that will go with most other colours! After wearing these pumps for no more than four hours my feet absolutely killed! The inside of the pump isn't finished correctly making the material dig into your feet, so please bare this in mind when getting a pair!  Having said that I will still wear these again as I love them so much!

Now back to the shopping. I purchased a few bits from Topshop (which I shall write about in my next post) and then collected my parcel from New Look.
These where the shoes inside!!!

Ok, so there has been a mix of opinions on these, virtually everyone seems to have had a pair when they were like nine and now the fashion trend has come back around on itself again! These were £15 which is a pretty good price compared to some that are on Asos or Topshop as they are all £20 plus! Do I think I'm going to wear them? In one word YES! They are beyond comfortable and actually look good on! Hopefully if the weather starts warming up then these will be my staple wardrobe piece on my outfits of the day posts to come!
With a few pieces purchased, it wasn't a total disaster of a weekend! Hopefully a better one to come!

A Bit Of A Bite In My Step

This is my very first outfit post!
If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will know I always post pictures of my latest purchases, and outfits I have pieced together from whatever I have brought recently. Today I decided to be brave and do the typical blogger pose! That's right, a picture where you don't actually look into the camera! However, if you follow me on instagram ( silkandboots ), then I admittedly do take quite a few selfies, but this whole someone else takes your picture is rather scary! Here I am fully out there in my first new standard pose!

Today I went shopping to our local town with my mum and decided it was probably going to be the one last time I wore black head to toe. Please note I did say "probably". This look is completely different from my usual everyday look, which usually consists of tea dresses and cute ballerina pumps. What I like about my look is the dog bite t-shirt dress which really stands out and instead of looking totally girly like I always do, this is my take on "grunge". Ok so not totally grunge, but about as grunge as a blonde girl can get!

My T-shirt dress is from River Island
Leather Jacket is Miss Selfridge
Black Opaque tights Next
Lace up Boots Topshop.

A little insight

The last few days have been really wonderful for me, as first I celebrated Mothers Day with my little boy and then it was my twenty eighth birthday, so as you can imagine this week has been a week of smiles and of course presents!
On Sunday, (Mothers Day), me and Harrison started our day by visiting my nan and we gave her special photos of Harrison that we had done for the day, needless to say she loved them! My nan doesn't like celebrating the day and every year requests no cards or presents, so the photos were a perfect gift! We then spent the next hour or so playing in the garden with her dog Max, which made me think of all my childhood memories of being there. It feels like only yesterday when I would walk up the garden path with my Grandad now I'm doing the exact same thing with my little boy.

After visiting my nan we then headed over to my mums to also give her photos and another gift which me and my brother got her together.

This gorgeous bag is from River Island and cost £40, it has a navy blue flap which closes with gold locks, and has a beautiful pastel woven detailing to the front. It really is the perfect messenger bag for the summer months as pastels are so on trend and is a great size to carry around everything from your purse and mobile to your make up bag.

We then spent the rest of the afternoon playing out in the sunshine on all of the garden toys.
I really couldn't of asked for a better day than to spend it with my family and everyone being so pleased with what we got them. I personally got some One Direction perfume, as my last bottle ran out at xmas and this was on my wish list for the past couple of weeks. I love the scent and every time I wear it to work everyone always compliments me on the smell.

Next up, my Birthdayyyyyyy!!!! Well on April the 1st, yes April fools day, I turned 28, and although I thought I would be crying in my bed all day about the fact I'm two years off thirty, I decided to embrace my age instead. I mean I get told I look younger than I am, I certainly don't feel that age, so there for I have decided its merely a number and being totally mature and ignoring those god awful digits of mine.
Anyway back to the important bit, my birthday present! Ever since I can remember I have loved Marc Jacobs, the clothes line, the bags and accessories, I have spent endless hours looking at his stuff online and lusting over such products! Well on the first of April, my wait was over as a beautiful Marc Jacobs bag landed on my doorstep! Yep, I finally got what I had been after for all these years, and here it is!

This gorgeous Marc Jacobs bag, (yes I did have to get the fact that is it Marc Jacobs for like the billionth time in), is colour blocked with two shades of grey, gold detailing to the fastenings and a mustard bag tag on the inside and on the tabs on the front! I just absolutely love it and couldn't of picked a better handbag myself! The boy did good!
I also got some money and Topshop vouchers and some clothes, all in all a very good start to the day. As my partner had to work me and Harrison decided to go to this kiddies play hub, which is a massive play area for kids of the ages between 0-16. We both had so much fun running around and climbing up and down things that it really was the perfect birthday.
This is a picture of us together before we went down the big bumpy slide.

A Next Wishlist Purchased

Its no secret I love Next! I love their kids clothing range, (especially as I have a two year old), I love the home items and I love the fashion ranges! I have shopped with Next for many years and will continue to do so!
I recently made a wishlist up of some pieces I really wanted to buy, and this month I decided to splurge and get them!
On my list first of all was a pair of jeans! Now like most girls I hate shopping for jeans, it always take ages to get the right fit, but once you find a pair you love you will forever be in them! I'm more a leggings with tea dresses kind of girl, so searching for jeans is never on my top priority, until now! This season jeans have been all over the catwalks and are in every high street store, especially the mom jeans and boyfriend ripped jeans. I decided to go for a relaxed skinny jean, as these suit my shape best and felt these would be easy to dress up or down.

I love the fit of these jeans although I did go down a size as the waistband does come up rather big compared to other Next jeans. The code for these jeans is 660-462 and cost a mere £26 which is an absolute bargain!
I styled these jeans with a classic white shirt and some metallic gold pointed pumps.

The shirt cost £20 and code is 668-204. It has great detailing on the shoulders with see through panelling which really takes emphasis of your arms. The shoes cost £24 and code is 898-326. Metallics are huge for summer and really add class and style to your outfit, and with the asymmetric shape of the shoe you wont get more stylish than this! I always add a necklace to an outfit as I like adding extra detailing to an outfit. This necklace was £12 and the code is 890-781.

I also purchased some simple daisy lace tops, that were only £15 each.

The code for the light pink is 678-688 and the white is 681-600. The tops are a simple t-shirt shape but the lace detailing gives it such a feminine touch.I also like the fact that the lace goes all the way round the back unlike some tops that just have the lace at the front. These will look great with my new relaxed skinny jeans.

This is another outfit choice I got from Next, (the jeans are the same as before), now I wasnt sure if boxy tops would suit my suit but infact they balance me out and look great with different trouser types from jeans to capris or even tucked in to a midi skirt. The ballerina pumps are typical of my look as they are easy to wear and so comfortable and with the sparkly bows can still make the outfit look dressed up even though you aren't wearing a heel. Pastels is another trend that is big for summer and I cant get enough of all the girly looks. The top cost £24 and the code is 899-395, and the pumps were £26 with a code of 877-976.

Keeping in with the boxy tee, is this beautiful light blue striped top, that comes in yellow stripe and navy stripe. Last year I purchased a navy midi skirt from Dorothy Perkins which this will look great with especially as the midi is back for this summer. The top cost £16 and the code is 677-239.

Last of my purchases was the lovely waterfall jacket.

Sorry about the glare on this picture!
This jacket is simple yet classic and can be worn with almost everything. I really wanted a little black jacket, but not something as heavy as my leather jacket that I live in, but something that would still be wearable with my dresses and tunics. This I felt would be perfect for the summer evenings as it isn't heavy what so ever. I tend to wear a lot of cardigans but since reading an article that a cardigan can age you as well as the look, I try to look for alternatives to go with my outfit and this jacket is precisely that! The jacket cost £38 and the code is 665-022.

I really hope you like my purchases!
